Last weekend we went to the beach. There is just something about the Oregon Coast in the winter that I find really appealing. The blustery weather provides the perfect excuse to cuddle on the couch and do nothing. Although, with a 14-month-old we didn't really get away with doing nothing.
We did a ton:
- Visited three different coastal town breweries; Seaside Brewing Co., Fort George Brewery (their Vortex IPA is killer), and Bill's Tavern and Brewhouse (my personal favorite of the three).
- Went for our first training run together
- Checked out the aquarium (can pass on that one next time)
- Walked on the beach
- Tasted amazing olive oil and vinegars at a new store in Cannon Beach
- Selected the perfect cheese for our post-dinner cheese plate at a cute co-op in Astoria
- Ate way too many pancakes at Pig 'n Pancake
- Made the required stop for smoked salmon at Bell Buoy (those in the know call it Bell Boy)
- And, Carson rode his first carousel! I hope to make this particular activity a Seaside tradition for many years to come. My coworker takes a photo with his family in front of this same carousel every time they visit the beach. He has over 20 years of the same photo. I kind of love that idea.
This weekend we are heading to the Gorge for one of our favorite outings that we like to call "Trail to Ale". It starts with a hike in the Gorge and ends with pizza and IPA at Double Mountain Brewery in Hood River. Their margherita pizza is like a little slice of heaven.
What adventures do you have in store this weekend?
